David C. Mai, DPM

Dr. Mai was born in Saigon, Vietnam and immigrated to the Unites States nearly 40 years ago. He grew up playing on the beaches in Southern California, attending high school there, and then going on to attend both the University of California at Irvine and California State University at Fullerton.

He received his medical degree from Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences. Dr. Mai spent three rigorous years training in all aspects of the surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and Community Health Partners in Ohio. He then completed his surgical residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. He is highly trained in all aspects of the foot and ankle. Having trained at a large teaching institution, such as Cleveland Clinic with more than 1100 residents and fellows, Dr. Mai was able to nurture and enhance his love for medical education. He now serves as the Surgical Education Director for the Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency program at Larkin Community Hospital, a statutory teaching hospital with more than 100 residents in over seven different medical disciplines.

Dr. Mai’s passion for foot and ankle medicine stems from a love of sports including basketball and golf. His surgical interests lie in the reconstruction of the foot and ankle, whether in part or total, traumatic or not. While he loves to spend time in the operating room, he finds it just as gratifying spending time in the office treating patients. He treats both children and adults, conservatively and surgically.

Dr. Mai has spent the better part of his career in a group practice model, most recently as part of a busy four physician practice in Broward County. He has chosen to become a solo practitioner at this point in his life since this practice model will afford him more time to devote to his patients and family, both of which are extremely important to him.

Dr. Mai would like to welcome you and your family to his practice.
